Synagy vs Unity AI: which should you use?

Synagy vs Unity AI compared in 2026: price, who each is for, how they connect to MCP, what they build and where Unity AI is the better choice.

Published 4 min readby the Synagy team

Short answer: Unity AI is Unity's own assistant for people who already work in the editor, and it is the right pick if you know Unity and want the vendor's tools. Synagy is a free package for people who do not code: it plans a game with a price, builds it, play-tests it and fixes it. You can install both in the same project. Last checked: 2026-10-30.

We make Synagy, so we are not neutral. Unity facts link to Unity's pages or to named press, and we say where Unity AI is better.

What is the difference in how they work?

Unity AI answers you inside the editor. You ask, it writes or changes something, and you review it. That suits people who can read the result.

Synagy runs a crew of agents. It turns one line into a plan with a price for every part, writes C# scripts and scene objects into Assets/Synagy/, compiles them, runs Play mode, checks a screenshot and fixes what fails before you see it. You can interrupt and redirect it while it works.

Does the MCP side differ?

Both offer an MCP server so that your own agent, such as Claude Code, can drive Unity. Unity's official server uses no credits itself, but it needs the Unity AI package, a Unity Cloud link and an accepted "Pending Connection" prompt. Synagy's server is free and needs no Unity Cloud login, only a free Synagy account to unlock the editor.

Synagy's server has 35 tools shared with Roblox Studio and Blender. It includes atomic batches (up to 500 operations, one undo step), a profiler and a real C# API lookup. For a wider comparison, see Unity MCP servers compared.

Where is Unity AI the better pick?

Synagy is also still a beta, and the cloud chat runs on credits once plans are on sale. See the pricing page.

Yes. Both have an MCP server. Synagy's is free and needs only Node and a Synagy account. Unity's needs Unity AI, a Unity Cloud link and an accepted connection prompt in the editor.

Which is better for beginners?
