How to use Roblox Studio AI Assistant (2026 guide)
How to use Roblox Studio AI Assistant in 2026: open it, plan and build with it, add your own AI key, understand the daily limit and turn it off.

Short answer: to use Roblox Studio AI Assistant, click Assistant on the right of the top bar in Studio and type what you want. It writes Luau, edits objects, inserts Creator Store assets and can make meshes. Roblox does not publish a daily message limit, but the docs cap procedural models at 50 per rolling 24 hours. Your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google key adds more room.
We make Synagy, which also has a Roblox Studio plugin. So we are not neutral. Every fact about Assistant below links to Roblox's own docs or the Roblox DevForum, checked on 2026-10-27.
How do you open Roblox Studio AI Assistant?
Assistant is built into Studio. Roblox made it generally available to everyone using Studio on December 5, 2024. You do not install a plugin.
- Open a placeany place in Roblox Studio, new or old
- Click Assistanton the right side of the top bar
- Type one taskfor example "add a part that kills players on touch"
- Rate the answerredo for a new try, thumbs up or down to rate
The official Assistant guide lists what it can do today:
- answer questions about Roblox and explain code you select in the Script Editor
- create and change scripts, objects and instances, also many at once
- search the Creator Store and your own inventory, then insert what you pick
- style parts with a light version of the Material Generator
- make textured meshes with
/generate_mesh, by default up to 10,000 triangles - split a mesh into parts with
/segment_mesh, up to 5 part names per run
Chats are saved to the cloud per place, not per experience. A deleted chat cannot be brought back.
How do you plan, build and test with Assistant?
For bigger tasks, start in planning mode. Pick Plan in the dropdown under the text box, or type /plan. Assistant writes an editable Markdown plan. Nothing runs until you press Build, according to the Assistant guide.
Testing has its own helper. In April 2026 Roblox added a Playtest Agent beta. Turn it on under File → Beta Features → Playtest Agent. Then ask, for example, "use the playtest subagent to check that players can buy the apple".
The playtest agent spawns a test character and reports Pass, Fail, Inconclusive or Error. Know its limits:
- A test stops after 50 turns.
- It has its own daily cap, with no number published.
- It can pass a test that a human would fail.
- Fast tasks, like steering a car, often fail.
Why do you hit the daily limit, and how do you get more?
The built-in model has a daily usage limit, and Roblox does not publish the number. Creators filed an Assistant usage limit feature request and, in July 2026, a request for clearer quota information. The one hard number in the docs is 50 procedural models per rolling 24 hours, which frees up slowly instead of at a fixed time.
The official way to get more room is your own model. Roblox added external AI keys for Assistant in February 2026:
- Open Assistant and click the three dots at the top right.
- Choose Manage API Keys.
- Pick Anthropic, OpenAI or Google and paste your key.
- Turn the provider on and choose a model in the Model dropdown.
The key stays on your device. Requests then go to that provider, which bills your account at its own API prices.
| Option | What it costs | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in model | included in Studio | daily limit, number not published |
| Your own key | your provider's API price | your provider's limits |
| Studio MCP server + your own agent | your agent's plan | your agent's limits |
Can you use Claude or another agent instead?
Yes. Studio can act as an MCP server. Open Assistant, click the three dots, choose Manage MCP Servers and switch on Enable Studio as MCP server. The Roblox AI workflows page says a connected client can read the data model, run scripts, edit instances and playtest. Roblox names Cursor and Claude Code as examples.
This suits people who already pay for a coding agent. If you do not, it adds a second tool to learn.
How do you turn off Roblox Studio AI Assistant?
There is no switch that removes the Assistant button from the top bar. We found no official setting for it, and a DevForum thread on hiding the Assistant button has no fix from Roblox. You can turn off the parts that pop up while you type:
- Studio Settings → Script Editor: uncheck Enable Assistant Selection Tooltips and the other Code Assist options.
- Beta Features: leave the Playtest Agent unchecked.
- Data sharing: a separate choice in your Creator Hub settings, not an Assistant switch.
Where does Synagy fit, and where does it stop?
Synagy for Roblox Studio is a free plugin, still in beta. You sign in with your synagy.org account and describe an experience. Synagy shows a plan with a price in credits before anything starts. Then it writes Luau, builds parts in the open place, checks the syntax and playtests with an avatar.
you want free help inside Studio, meshes or Creator Store assets
you want a whole plan with a price first and a bot that plays every build
Be clear about the limits. Synagy for Roblox makes no images or meshes yet, and Assistant can. Synagy is in a free beta right now: paid plans are paused and every account gets 25 free credits a day. Details are on the Synagy pricing page. For other AI tools, see our comparison of the best AI game makers in 2026.
FAQ
Is Roblox Studio AI Assistant free?
Roblox lists no price for it. Assistant is generally available to everyone using Studio, and the built-in model has a daily usage limit. If you connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google key, that provider bills you for the requests at its own API prices.
What is the Roblox Studio AI Assistant daily limit?
Roblox does not publish a number for chat messages. The docs do give one hard cap: 50 procedural models per rolling 24 hours. The Playtest Agent beta has its own separate daily cap, also without a published number.
Can Roblox Studio AI Assistant make a whole game?
It can build many parts of one, such as scripts, objects, meshes and inserted assets. For a full game you still split the work into small tasks, test each one and fix what breaks. Planning mode helps you list those tasks first.
How do I use Claude with Roblox Studio?
There are two ways. Paste an Anthropic key under Assistant → Manage API Keys to run Assistant on Claude. Or turn on the Studio MCP server and connect Claude Code, so Claude edits your open place directly.
