**Short answer:** Unity AI pricing in 2026 starts with a free 14-day trial on the Personal plan. After that, the in-editor Assistant costs $10 a month. Personal includes 1,000 credits a month, Pro 2,000 and Enterprise 3,000. Pro and Enterprise get the Assistant with their paid seat. The Unity MCP server and the AI gateway for your own agent use no credits. Prices were checked on 2026-10-30.

We make Synagy, which also works inside the Unity Editor, so we are not neutral. Every Unity number below links to Unity's own page. Unity calls its AI tools a beta, so prices and rates can still change.

## What does Unity AI cost in 2026?

The answer depends on your Unity plan. Personal users pay for the Assistant after the trial. Pro and Enterprise users already have it in their seat. The [Unity AI product page](https://unity.com/products/unity-ai) says the Personal trial converts to a $10 monthly subscription. The [Unity plans page](https://unity.com/pricing) lists the credits.

| Unity plan | Plan price | Unity AI access | Credits per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | free | 14-day trial, then $10 a month | 1,000 |
| Pro | $210 a month or $2,310 a year per seat | included | 2,000 |
| Enterprise | custom, ask sales | included | 3,000 |

**14 | days of free Unity AI trial on Personal**

- **$10**: a month for Unity AI after the trial
- **1,000**: Unity credits a month on Personal
- **6.0**: lowest Unity version Unity AI runs on

Two rules matter for your budget. First, unused credits do not roll over. They reset at the start of each billing cycle. Second, when your balance hits zero, the AI features pause until the next cycle or until you buy more credits. Both rules are in [Unity's credits documentation](https://docs.unity.com/en-us/ai/credits/credits-about).

## What do 1,000 Unity credits buy?

It depends on the model and the task. Unity's own examples range from about 4 credits for a short question to about 1,500 for a big build. Unity warns that these are estimates and that rates can change without notice. The table uses the numbers from [Unity's credits documentation](https://docs.unity.com/en-us/ai/credits/credits-about).

| Task | Model | About this many credits |
|---|---|---|
| Ask a short Unity question | Unity Lite | 4 |
| Generate a simple script | Unity Lite | 8 |
| Build out a full gameplay mechanic | Unity Lite | 58 |
| Build a cinema room scene | Unity Default | 50 |
| Third-person player controller | Unity Default | 190 |
| Third-person player controller | Unity Ultra | 450 |
| Fantasy city hub | Unity Ultra | 1,500 |
| Generate a 3D model from text | Generators | 8 |
| Generate an image | Generators | 1 to 6 |

So 1,000 credits cover roughly five player controllers on Unity Default. On Unity Ultra, one large city hub can use most of a Personal month. If you mostly ask short questions on Unity Lite, the allowance goes a long way.

> **Tip:** pick Unity Lite for questions and small scripts. Save Unity Ultra for the one hard task that really needs it.

## Which parts of Unity AI are free?

Several parts cost nothing, even after the trial. According to the [Unity AI product page](https://unity.com/products/unity-ai), these are free:

- **Unity MCP server and Unity CLI:** free, with no concurrency limits. The MCP server needs Unity 6 or newer.
- **Official plugin:** free. It bundles Unity's skills, the CLI and the MCP server.
- **AI gateway:** connects a third-party agent you already pay for. It does not use Unity credits.

The catch is that your own agent is not free. If you connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, you pay that vendor instead. The [Unity MCP setup guide](https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.ai.assistant@2.4/manual/integration/unity-mcp-get-started.html) shows how to connect a client under Edit > Project Settings > AI > Unity MCP.

## How do you start the trial and cancel Unity AI?

You start in the editor and cancel in the Unity Cloud Dashboard. Only an organization Owner or a Billing Admin can cancel.

**Cancel Unity AI in five steps**

1. **Sign in**: open cloud.unity.com with your Unity ID
2. **Organization settings**: click the gear icon at the top right
3. **My Products**: open the Subscriptions tab, then Unity AI Subscription
4. **Auto-renewal**: click Cancel next to Auto-renewal
5. **Confirm**: pick a reason and confirm

1. To start, open a Unity 6 project and use the AI menu. "Open Assistant" starts the chat and "Generate New" opens the asset generators.
2. Watch your balance in the AI menu or in the Unity Dashboard under AI settings.
3. To cancel, follow the five steps above, taken from [Unity's cancellation article](https://support.unity.com/hc/en-us/articles/48478191684628-How-to-cancel-your-Unity-AI-subscription-trial-or-paid).
4. A cancelled trial ends on its end date with no charge. A cancelled paid plan runs until the end of the billing period.

**Cancel before day 14**

If auto-renewal stays on, the trial turns into a paid subscription when it ends.

## Is Unity AI worth $10 a month?

For many Unity users, yes. It lives inside the editor, reads your project and also makes assets. It is a weaker fit if you cannot code and want a finished, tested game part.

**Choose Unity AI if … | you already know Unity and want help with scripts, scenes and assets**

- **Choose the free MCP server if …**: you already pay for Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
- **Choose Synagy if …**: you cannot code and want each part built, play-tested and priced before it starts

## Where does Synagy fit, and where does it stop?

Synagy is a different kind of tool, not a cheaper Unity AI. The [Synagy for Unity package](https://synagy.org/unity) is free for Unity 6 (6000.0 or newer). Our agent crew plans every part with a price in credits. It writes C# scripts into Assets/Synagy/, compiles, runs Play mode, checks a screenshot and fixes itself. A part that fails costs nothing.

Right now Synagy is in a free beta and payments are paused. Every account gets 25 Free Credits a day for builds on free AI models. Planned paid plans start at €2.99 a month, but they cannot be booked yet. See the [Synagy pricing page](https://synagy.org/pricing). Synagy credits and Unity credits are different units, so do not compare the numbers one to one.

Where Synagy stops: it does not generate 3D models, sounds or music the way Unity's Generators do. It is not an assistant for a large existing codebase either.
